PROJECT: MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY BECAUSE YOU CAN!

So I had an idea last night while looking thru submissions on here.
“Gosh” I thought “Some of these OC character designs are really nice! I’d like to draw some of them sometime!”
So I pondered this some and then thought “WHY DON’T I?!”

Everyone loves getting fanart right? I know I sure do! When someone takes the time to draw my characters for whatever reason it always brightens my day. So I thought, why not just pick an OC design that was neat and draw some fanart for that random person in hopes that it might brighten THEIR day!

So I did just that.

My latest deviation is random fanart for a deviant I’ve never talked to, who’s gallery I’ve never been to before today, and who I’ve had no idea existed until I saw her OC and thought he looked neat.

People worry about doing art for money, doing art for fame, drawing something to kiss up to big name artist #5 or drawing something to become big name artist #5. We get so caught up in doing art FOR things we forget that sometimes you can just do art because you feel like it. And sometimes doing it for that reason can (hopefully) make someone else smile.

So why am I posting this? I’m posting this to encourage YOU to do the same thing!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a famous artist or a kid who just bought their first crayolas, if you’re here and you make art, why not try making art for someone else for no other reason than you can and that it might make them happy?

Go into whatever category you like and find someone’s original character and draw them a fanart JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN. Doesn’t matter if the person has 200 page views or 2 million, doesn’t matter if everyone knows their name or they just joined today.  Just browse, find a design you like and draw draw draw! Don’t pick someone you know or fanart for usually, this should be about a random act of kindness for someone you have no knowledge of beyond “I like that original character they drew!”
Make sure to put "PROJECT:HAPPY" somewhere in the deviation title so people can search for art that people have done just to make someone smile :3

Be respectful please and link back to the original and definitely let the original artist see your fanart! I think that goes without saying because there would be no point in doing this if you weren’t going to show the person but  there it is anyway lol.

Anyway, I dunno if anyone will actually do this, but if you do you’re a cool guy in my book. Anyone’s who’s willing to make art just to make someone smile is awesome.

If you like this idea please link around to this and try to spread the random love! DA has a lot of drama and flaming and hate going on every day, let’s try to do something nice to counter all that bile!

When you said: "My latest deviation is random fanart for a deviant I’ve never talked to, who’s gallery I’ve never been to before today, and who I’ve had no idea existed until I saw her OC and thought he looked neat."

This sounds like an awesome idea ^_^ totally going on the list of projects to do. In this big world sometimes we forget the little things (just getting back into being on deviant art)

As owner of original characters, I personally prefer that people do not draw some of them. I don't like to see them misrepresented, which is the only possibility when someone else is drawing. Only someone who could read my mind would be able to draw my characters the way they really are.

So instead of just drawing the character, I think people should first ask the artist for permission.
